Speedflex Q&A – Gareth Sewrey

Speedflex Q&A – Gareth Sewrey

Wednesday 26th July 2017

This summer we’re showcasing one of the most enthusiastic fitness fanatics we know, Surrey’s Manager, Gareth Sewrey. The only person to claim a Speedflex machine would be on his list of 3 items he could take to a desert island!

Who is your hero/who do you look up to?

My Nan is without doubt my hero and the person I look up to the most. She and my Grandad brought me up from a very young age, and unfortunately we lost my Grandad when I was 9 so from that day on my Nan stepped up and brought me up in a way I can only hope I will be able to with my own family.

Where in the world would you most like to visit?

I would love to visit somewhere in the world that would allow me to see polar bears in their natural habitat, these animals are simply awesome! So maybe an arctic cruise?

What’s your favourite film and song?

My favourite film is Step Brothers starring Will Ferrell, the humour literally cracks me up and I am praying they release a sequel. My favourite song has to be Hotel California by The Eagles, it always seems to be on when I am on holiday chilling by the pool, a classic instrumental or acoustic version allows the alcohol and over indulgence of food go down easier (and guilt free) for sure.

If you could have any job in the world, which one would you choose?

My dream job would probably be an MMA fighter but there is one major issue with this, I hate violence and hate getting punched, so I may have to come up with a new dream career.

What’s the best piece of advice anybody has given you?

An old team mate of mine hit the nail on the head once with a phrase/quote which I feel may well be the best advice anybody has ever given me. They said “If you always do what you have always done, then you will only ever get what you ever got.” So, if you don’t like things as they are change them, or if you require better results in any shape or form you must try new/different ways to achieve them.

If you were stranded on a desert island and you could choose three things to have, what would they be?

My three things would be a Speedflex machine (obviously) so I can get my full body, low impact workout as I continue in my quest for world domination via exercise, a spare pair of Speedos, and my favourite book called ‘Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff’ (if you haven’t read this you must)!

You’re hosting a dinner party and can invite any three people (dead or alive) who would you invite and why?

The three people I’d invite would be Lance Armstrong, as I would like to know the reasons behind his doping scandal. He was my hero in a sporting sense and I felt he let me down! Second would be Eminem as his story is inspirational – plus he can provide the entertainment in between courses. Then lastly and most importantly I would have a guest of honour, my Grandad. As I mentioned earlier he died when I was too young to let him know how much I respect and appreciated what he and my Nan have done for me by bringing me up to have the morals and drive I do, it’s all thanks to them!

What one item would you want to save if your house was on fire?

I wouldn’t save anything from my house except my family obviously. In terms of items I don’t have anything special to me, all my treasured possessions are in my head and heart.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Fish and chips!! (But it would have to be by the seaside with a can of coke and loads of salt and vinegar, oh and curry sauce)!

For you, what’s the best thing about training at Speedflex?

The best thing about training with Speedflex is that it allows all abilities to train together in a non-intimidating environment and it guarantees results! What more could anyone ask for?
