We’ve all experienced that mid-afternoon slump, where we can’t stop our eyes from shutting in front of our screens, but you can eliminate the feeling of constant fatigue and make yourself feel better by boosting your energy with these 5 tips.
Eat a healthy breakfast
During the night, you have starved and dehydrated your body. The key is to mix carbs and protein first thing to wake you up and keep you feeling fuller for longer.
Natural light makes the body feel awake. As the clocks change and winter approaches there are fewer hours of daylight to take advantage of. Make sure all the blinds are open in your office, and try and go for a walk outside, the vitamin D from daylight boosts energy levels.
Exercise releases endorphins which make you feel happier. It also makes you sleep more soundly during the night, allowing you to wake up rejuvenated the next morning!
Don’t stay glued to your desk for 8 hours, get up and walk around, do the coffee run, keep yourself busy every hour – staring at a computer screen all day only increases tiredness.
Stress is a major cause of tiredness. Constant stress puts added pressure on the body and can lead to lack of sleep, which then leads to further fatigue. Eliminating stress through meditation or off-loading problems onto a friend, can see a person automatically feel less stressed, giving them more energy.
